Not every patient needs to have an x-ray taken, but when they are necessary for the proper care of the patient or to rule out some underlying pathology that would cause us to alter our care or provide a referral, we have a complete facility for taking and developing our own x-rays. X-ray evaluation can often elucidate conditions that the patient wasn't aware of, and help them to reduce chances for deterioration down the road in addition to allowing us to make sure that they get the most appropriate care. In addition, patients who have had falls or have suspected fractures, as long as they are not life threatening, can quickly get films taken and appropriate orthopedic referral without the trauma of going to a hospital emergency room. We do have a working relationship with a local MRI facility as well if we feel that we need MRI findings are necessary.
We always provide an x-ray report of findings whenever films are taken.
